MAJOR NEWS TONIGHT ABOUT WOMEN AND BREAST CANCER.

GOVERNMENT EXPERTS NOW SAY MAMMOGRAMS SHOULD BEGIN AT AGE 40, RATHER THAN 50.

THIS CHANGE IN RECOMMENDATION IS BASED ON NEW RESEARCH FINDINGS THAT INDICATE AN INCREASED RISK OF BREAST CANCER IN YOUNGER WOMEN.

The chance for showers and thunderstorms continues through the short term period, but location and timing are still a bit tricky to pin down.

The forcing behind these showers and thunderstorms will depend on mesoscale features that are currently in development, particularly the convective boundaries created by the storms moving through south and central parts of the state late tonight and the storms that blasted through the Lower RGV very early this morning.

Looking at the pattern aloft, another weak shortwave trough will move across South Texas today and help support the enhancement of the storms that are already in progress.

The general convective pattern suggests that showers and thunderstorms could sweep across the Brush Country this morning or afternoon.

Then the focus may shift west again as storms fire up along the Sierra Madre.

However, convection allowing models are showing less activity along the mountains compared to Monday night’s storms, so there is more uncertainty regarding any eastward progression towards Deep South Texas and the Rio Grand Valley.

The Storm Prediction Center has most of Deep South Texas in a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for severe thunderstorms, with damaging wind gusts and large hail being the main threats in any of the storms that develop and move into our area.

Forecast uncertainty increases even more for Wednesday, as the potential for showers and thunderstorms depends on what happens today.

Both the deterministic models and CAMs are having a hard time pinning down where the storms will be.

Regardless of the uncertainty in the convective development today and tomorrow, the ample available moisture will allow any showers and thunderstorms to have the potential to bring localized heavy rain to the area.

The Weather Prediction Center has included the entire CWA in a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) for excessive rainfall, meaning isolated flash flooding could be a possibility.

Temperatures will also be dependent on the potential rainfall and cloud cover but should generally be seasonally warm, ranging from the lower to mid-90s both today and tomorrow.

In other news, government experts have made a significant announcement regarding women’s health and breast cancer.

They now recommend that women begin getting mammograms at the age of 40, rather than waiting until they reach 50.

This change in recommendation is based on new research findings that indicate an increased risk of breast cancer in younger women.

Early detection through mammograms can significantly improve the chances of successful treatment and save lives.

Women are urged to consult with their healthcare providers and follow the updated guidelines to prioritize their health and well-being.
