There was a lot of yelling and commotion, but I couldn’t really hear anything. This neighbor didn’t want to be seen on camera, but she told Pix 11 News about what she heard on the 11th floor.
It started off loud before turning violent, with a 22-year-old woman being stabbed by another woman. It’s really sad, and I think they knew each other and had some kind of argument.
This happened around 11:30 PM on Monday night at the Crossing at Jamaica Station highrise on Archer Avenue. When the police arrived, they found the victim with at least seven stab wounds on her torso and hands.
The motive for the attack is still unclear, and the victim and attacker are not related. Some tenants of the building say they are not surprised as safety is a big concern. The doors break every other month, and there are concerns about security when they leave the desk unattended. Audrey Smith, another resident, had a similar experience with a tenant who tried to stab her.
She obtained a restraining order, but she still fears for her safety due to the tenant’s mental illness. There are questions about the building’s safety measures and who is allowed to enter. The 22-year-old victim is currently in critical condition and has not been able to provide any statements to the police, so details are limited.
Anyone with information about the attacker is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS..
