The Nashville school shooting on Monday claimed the life of nine-year-old Hallie Scruggs, who has North Texas ties.
She was the daughter of a former associate pastor at Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Chad Scruggs.
The family had moved to Nashville where Chad is now the lead pastor at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
The shooter, a 28-year-old transgender woman and former student of the school, also killed two other children before being shot by police.
Chad Scruggs received the heartbreaking news of his daughter’s death on the same day.
The Dallas church where he used to work is holding a prayer service on Tuesday to support the Scruggs family and their friends.
Many members of the Dallas church have deep connections with Tennessee and consider Covenant Presbyterian Church in Nashville as their sister church.
The Scruggs family had visited Dallas a few months ago, and Hallie grew up in Park Cities Presbyterian Church where her father used to work.
