During the ongoing murder trial for the death of Everett police officer Dan Rocha, bodycam footage of Richard Rotter’s arrest was shown in court on Wednesday.
The jury also heard from the officer who took Rotter into custody, describing the tense moments after Rotter had just shot his co-worker.
The officer was concerned about the fact that Rotter was still armed and could potentially pose a threat.
Prosecutors allege that Rotter decided to kill Rocha rather than face jail time for possession of firearms and illegal drugs.
However, Rotter’s defense plans to argue that his mental illness and substance abuse impaired his ability to premeditate his actions.
Updates will be provided as the trial continues.
