The identity of the deceased person has not been disclosed. It was a hectic weekend for firefighters in Sullivan County as they fought two massive fires over the span of two days. On Saturday, multiple crews from different towns responded to a three-alarm fire on Gilman Pond Road in Unity. A firefighter present at the scene reassured News 9 that all individuals safely evacuated the residence.
Sunapee Fire Department was notified around 1:30 pm and remained there for almost four hours. Additionally, many of the firefighters who tackled the Unity fire were also involved in Friday’s fire in Northfield.
This particular fire completely destroyed a building from the 1800s. Newport’s Police Chief reported that one person suffered minor injuries..
