Minnesota Department of Vehicle Services (DVS) has expanded the options for standard driver’s license testing in Eagan, Anoka, and downtown St.

Paul.

DVS is now offering group testing in eight different languages to make it easier for non-English speakers to obtain a state driver’s license.

The one-on-one oral testing was previously provided, but staff noticed the gap in language services, leading to a new policy to make it more accessible.

The department says they’ve already expanded options to help non-English speakers and added as many languages as possible to the actual written test.

Last year, DVS gave 461 oral exams and 175 group exams to people seeking a state license.

The locations in Eagan, Saint Paul, and Anoka provide space to do group exams, but DVS is looking into community centers to address a growing need.
