Idaho Weather Forecast: Mild Weekend Ahead before Rain Moves In

Idahoans can expect a mild and sunny weekend before rain moves in on Sunday night.

Scott Dorval, Idaho News 6’s weather forecaster, reported on Thursday that the clear skies would continue through Saturday, with temperatures warming up to the 50s in the valley.

However, a light breeze may make it feel cooler.

Dorval explained that a ridge of high pressure was nudging the Northwest, warming up the region, but an atmospheric river carrying tropical moisture from the south was also heading towards Idaho.

The moisture is expected to weaken as it runs into the high pressure, resulting in only a few hundredths of an inch of rain on Sunday night and Monday morning.

The region may see more significant moisture coming in towards the middle and latter part of next week, with an atmospheric river expected to surge in and bring up to a half-inch of rain to the Boise area on Tuesday.

While Idahoans enjoy the mild weather this weekend, Dorval warned that the wind would pick up, making it feel chilly, especially in the mornings.

He advised residents to take precautions and wear an extra layer to handle the breeze.

The McCall area will experience upper 30s with beautiful blue skies and light wind in the mountains, making it an amazing time to be in the higher elevations.

Spring arrives on Monday, with temperatures reaching 55 degrees, but with rain coming in from Monday and Tuesday, temperatures may slip a little bit below normal.
