Former President Trump’s ex-lawyer, Michael Cohen, testified before a grand jury in Manhattan investigating a hush money payment made to Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign.
The case relates to the payments that Trump allegedly made through Cohen to help his campaign or prevent it from being harmed.
Cohen has consistently claimed that Trump instructed him to do this, and he did it acting on Trump’s behalf.
Trump has strongly denied the accusations, calling them a mockery, injustice, and scam.
Cohen emphasized that his goal is not revenge but accountability, saying that Trump needs to be held accountable for his “dirty deeds.” Critics have raised concerns about Cohen’s credibility as he has served time for tax evasion and campaign finance violations related to the Stormy Daniels case.
This is the first time Cohen has appeared before a grand jury, although he has had around 20 meetings with prosecutors.
