Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen testified for a second day in front of a grand jury in New York on Wednesday.
The grand jury is investigating an alleged payment made on Donald Trump’s behalf in the final days of the 2016 presidential campaign.
Cohen had previously met with prosecutors before his grand jury testimony began on Monday.
The payment in question is alleged hush money paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels for her silence about an alleged affair with Trump.
Cohen is said to be a key player in the transaction, having set it up and moved the payment.
This latest development is seen as big trouble for Donald Trump, according to members of his own legal team.
Stormy Daniels also met with investigators from the Manhattan DA’s office and said she was willing to cooperate and appear as a witness before the grand jury if called to do so.
Trump has rejected the Manhattan DA’s invitation to testify before the grand jury.
The next steps in the case are currently unclear, but the investigation is said to be nearing its end.
