The Metter Tigers, defending state champions in the GHSA Single A state playoffs, swept the Swainsboro Tigers in a big cat battle in the Sweet Sixteen.

Both teams came into the game hoping to keep their season alive after series sweeps in the first round of the playoffs.

In the bottom of the first inning, Kaliq Jordan broke the scoreless tie with an RBI single that brought home RJ Coney and Rustan Rigdon.

The Metter Tigers kept their foot on the gas, with Smith Dekle hitting a gap at right-center field that brought home two runners, extending the lead to four.

Kaden Hobbs added another run with an RBI single that allowed Jayden Deloach to cross home plate.

Swainsboro struggled to get their offense going, and Metter cruised to a shutout win in Game One, 15-0, before completing the sweep with another shutout in Game Two.

With the win, Metter advances to the Elite Eight, continuing their quest for a third consecutive state championship.
