Meijer, a grocery store chain, has collaborated with an Eaton Rapids artist named Misty Russian for Women’s History Month.
Russian had stopped painting for a while after struggling with postpartum depression, but started again this year and submitted her work to Meijer’s “Collection of Voices” contest, which highlights local artists in different categories.
To her surprise, she won and now her products are being sold in Meijer stores across the country.
Her piece features the quote “Empowered women empower women,” and she hopes that it will encourage other women and young girls to pursue their own dreams.
The Women’s History Month display will be in Meijer locations until the end of March.
