Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson Holds Inaugural Series Event
Chicago’s Mayor-elect, Brandon Johnson, gathered with faith leaders for a prayer event just days before his official swearing-in ceremony.
The event, held in the West Loop, brought together several hundred people for an interfaith breakfast.
Johnson was joined at the table by Reverend Jesse Jackson, CTU President Stacy Davis Gates, Cook County Board President Preckwinkle, and Alderman Pat.
During the gathering, religious leaders offered prayers for Johnson’s leadership and emphasized the need for unity in the city.
They highlighted the importance of collective efforts and called for a better, stronger, and safer Chicago.
Concerns were also raised about the welfare of children, with a plea for addressing issues such as food insecurity and homelessness among the city’s youth.
The event emphasized the incoming administration’s commitment to working with and investing in the community.
The community leaders expressed confidence in Johnson’s ability to bring a fresh vision and new opportunities to Chicago.
However, they also stressed that true change and a unified city would require expanding the definition of teamwork and recognizing everyone as brothers and sisters.
Following Johnson’s address to the crowd, attendees showed their support by stretching out their hands, symbolizing their determination and unwavering commitment.
Further coverage of the prayer breakfast will be provided in the next hour of the midday news.
