On St.
Patrick’s Day, it’s worth noting that Massachusetts is one of the most Irish states in the US, with a large population of Irish ancestry.
According to the U.S Census Bureau, 19.8 percent of the state’s population claims Irish ancestry, which is about double the national population percentage.
This means that about one in five people you meet in the Bay State have Irish ancestors.
Only New Hampshire takes the lead with a population that is 20.2 percent Irish.
So, if you’re in Massachusetts today, chances are you’ll be surrounded by plenty of people who are ready to celebrate their heritage on this festive occasion.
