Man in Critical Condition After Shooting and Hit-and-Run at Canoga Park Gas Station
A man is fighting for his life after being shot and run over by a car at a gas station in Canoga Park early Wednesday morning.
The incident took place at the ARCO gas station located at the intersection of A Street and Independence Avenue.
According to officers at the scene, the victim, identified as a young male, was believed to be a customer at the gas station.
He and a friend were purchasing items when an altercation ensued with a group of suspects who were in a car at the gas station.
During the altercation, one of the suspects fired shots at the victim from inside the car.
Following the shooting, the suspect ran over the victim with the vehicle.
Emergency services were called, and the victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The suspects fled the scene in a dark SUV, which was later found abandoned on Kittredge Street, near the gas station.
The SUV displayed bullet holes on the passenger side and front window.
Police officers are currently guarding the abandoned vehicle and searching the area for additional evidence that could provide more information about the suspects.
Authorities are urging the victim’s friend, who reportedly left the scene at the time of the shooting, to come forward with any information he may have.
Investigators believe his cooperation is crucial to the ongoing investigation.
As a result of the incident, the ARCO gas station remains closed and is expected to remain so for a few more days.
The area surrounding the gas station has been cordoned off with yellow tape, and detectives are collecting evidence, including casings found at the scene.
The police are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice and are appealing to the public for any information that may help in identifying the suspects involved in this violent crime.
