Gene Scott, the man accused of killing his girlfriend, Renee Benedetti, appeared in court today.
Scott is charged with murder in the death of Benedetti, whom police indicate he had a romantic relationship with.
According to court records, Scott allegedly admitted to choking Benedetti to death during an argument at their apartment in Clintonville back in January.
He then allegedly wrapped her body up in a rug and dumped it at a landfill in Georgetown, Ohio.
Scott was given a one million dollar bond and ordered to stay away from Benedetti’s family.
He is expected back in court on March 17th.
Scott was also the subject of a federal investigation for illegal possession of a firearm.
Police found a 22 caliber rifle without a serial number during a search related to Benedetti’s disappearance.
