Transitional Improvements: Helping Homeless & Formerly Incarcerated Grocery Store Shooting; 1 Injured, 1 in Custody

In Washington DC, a man was arrested by the police for carrying a weapon just across the street. Our reporter, Mark Meredith, is the story.

It happened the US Senate Office Buildings, in a park between the Capitol and Union Station. The suspect is currently in a white police car labeled “US Capital Police,” while officers are searching his personal belongings and the nearby park. Capitol Police received reports of a man with a gun, possibly a rifle, and engaged in a foot chase to apprehend the suspect.

The security in the area is always high, especially in this common area where there are many pedestrians, including those going to Union Station for lunch. It is unclear if the suspect arrived by car or on foot, and the authorities will continue to search the area for any clues or evidence left behind.

At the moment, it appears to be an isolated incident involving only one person. The suspect is currently being interviewed by detectives, and no motive or specific threat to the people inside the US Capitol has been identified yet.

This kind of situation unfortunately is not uncommon in DC..
