A man in Mead County, South Dakota has been arrested after allegedly shooting a dog on his property earlier this month.

The incident took place on March 13th in the area of Eagle Ranch Road, according to the Meade County Sheriff’s Office.

A caller to the 911 Center reported that the man, identified as Richard Greenman, had shot the dog intentionally.

Following an investigation, Greenman was arrested for killing or injuring another’s animal.

The Sheriff’s Office has responded to 33 calls of dogs at large in the area and is reminding residents that shooting or killing someone else’s animal is illegal.
