Man Arrested for Hit and Run in Storm Lake

A Storm Lake man has been arrested after allegedly hitting a 17-year-old with his car on Thursday.

The incident took place in the 500 block of Oates Street in Storm Lake.

The driver fled the scene, but the Storm Lake Police Department was able to identify him as Gerson Barrionuavo-Corbonel.

According to the police, Barrionuavo-Corbonel was working at a gas station when a man entered the store and stole a bottle of liquor.

Allegedly, Barrionuavo-Corbonel got into a Jeep and followed the suspect, who was on foot.

However, he veered off the roadway and struck the alleged thief on the sidewalk.

The 17-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment, while Barrionuavo-Corbonel now faces multiple charges.

The weather conditions at the time were reported to be favorable for Siouxlanders.

The Storm Lake Police Department responded promptly to the incident and worked to apprehend the driver involved in the hit and run.

The safety and well-being of the community remains a top priority for local law enforcement agencies.
