Louisville resident and World War II veteran Harold Senior celebrated his 100th birthday with friends and family on Saturday.

Born on St.

Patrick’s Day a century ago, Senior served in the radio room on a warship during the war and later returned to a ship as a ballroom dance instructor.

The celebration took place at the Golden Nugget on Hikes Lane, where Senior received birthday cards, well wishes, and plenty of cake.

When asked about the secret to his longevity, Senior credited his healthy lifestyle: he never smoked or drank heavily, and always made time to exercise and socialize with good company.

Senior’s advice to others was to live as well as you can and be grateful for every year.
