Tonight, we are honoring Veterans Day by hearing from two local veterans about their experiences serving our country. Arnold Compass, who served in World War II, and James Jennings, a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War, celebrated his 102nd birthday at Brookdale Southbend Senior Living facility.
James served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War because he felt a sense of responsibility, just like many other young men at that time. Similarly, Arnold also felt a duty to enlist in the Air Force in 1942.
He was injured during a morning operation in Vietnam, receiving wounds to his arms and legs and earning a Purple Heart. Throughout the day, veterans have been recognized and appreciated through special meals, discounts, and more. It is important to continue expressing gratitude to our veterans, including James and Arnold, for their dedicated service..
