Lawmakers have introduced a bill to designate Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist organizations in response to recent events involving the kidnapping of Americans by suspected drug cartel members.

Mexican authorities have arrested five people in connection to the kidnapping of four Americans, two of whom were killed by a Mexican drug cartel after being mistaken for Haitian smugglers.

The remaining two survivors were found by Mexican authorities after four days.

The incident has led to Republican lawmakers calling for war against drug cartels, citing the record amount of fentanyl coming across the border and killing Americans.

Mexican President Lopez Obrador denies the making of fentanyl in the country and refuses to allow foreign governments’ Armed Forces to intervene.

The golf cartel wrote an apology letter and turned over five members who they claim acted on their own when killing the two Americans.

Texas representatives are planning on introducing a bill to designate Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.
