Community Mourns 15-Year-Old Boy Struck and Killed by Car in San Jose Mother Arrested as Son Severely Beaten, While She Gets Nails Done

A police pursuit in downtown Los Angeles early Friday morning resulted in the fatal shooting of a man by Los Angeles Police Department officers.

The pursuit ended near 16th Street and Maple Avenue after starting earlier near Hoover and Manchester when an officer spotted a man with a gun.

The man and a group of suspects hopped into a car and headed towards downtown LA.

Two suspects got out of the car and ran away, while officers opened fire on one of them, who was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The other two suspects are still at large.

No officers were injured in the incident.

Streets in the area have been closed, and officials are urging people to avoid the intersection of A and 16th.

Detectives are currently investigating the scene and are looking for body camera footage to try and get a clear description of what happened.

A firearm was recovered at the scene and will be booked into evidence.
