A special needs daycare center in Lakeland, Florida has been closed suddenly, leaving families in a difficult situation.

The closure was due to Medicaid fraud allegations against Carlos Cabrera, an administrator for the daycare.

The daycare, Angels on Earth, provided skilled nursing services for children with special needs.

The allegations against Cabrera include fraudulent transportation services, and up to 34% of the company’s Medicaid claims were fraudulent, totaling over $400,000.

The daycare’s co-owner is Cabrera’s wife.

Heather Walker, whose 5-year-old son attended the daycare, noticed that her insurance was still being billed for transportation services after her son stopped attending the daycare.

Cabrera is facing one count of Medicaid provider fraud.

Another Angels on Earth center in Haines City is also closed.
