A rare tornado hit Los Angeles County on Wednesday causing significant damage to vehicles, power infrastructure, and buildings, according to Michael Chee, the Director of Public Affairs for the City of Montebello.
The tornado struck so quickly that the National Weather Service did not have time to issue a warning.
This was only the fifth tornado to hit LA County since 2005, and it was the strongest in 40 years.
Chee stated that recovery efforts were underway, but assessing the damage was challenging since many buildings were not built to withstand high winds or a tornado of this nature.
Despite the extensive damage, fortunately, no one was seriously injured.
