A 43-year-old woman was kidnapped at gunpoint, sexually assaulted, and held captive for 24 hours in a Palm City home where police found the body of an unidentified woman.
The woman managed to escape and flagged down a driver who called the police.
The suspect, 44-year-old Rafael Banda, was arrested and charged with sexual assault and kidnapping.
Banda has a criminal history with more than 20 arrests and some bonds set at more than one million dollars, but it’s unclear what the charges were for and if he was convicted.
Neighbors are shocked and scared by the incident and some are even considering moving.
Banda’s bail was set at $100,000.
