Kansas Jayhawks Defeat Iowa State Cyclones in Big 12 Tournament Semi-Finals
The Kansas Jayhawks have secured a spot in the Big 12 Tournament finals after defeating the Iowa State Cyclones 71-58 on Friday night.
Despite being without head coach Bill Self, who is currently hospitalized, assistant coach Norm Roberts led the team to victory.
Jalen Wilson led the charge with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Gradey Dick made crucial baskets during a second-half run that gave Kansas control.
Going into the game, Kansas was favored by four and a half points, but Iowa State put up a tough fight.
The match-up drew a large crowd to the Power and Light District in Kansas City, with both Kansas and Iowa State fans showing out in full force.
Iowa State supporters seemed to outnumber Kansas fans, but both sides were friendly towards each other.
Kansas will now look to defend their tournament title in the finals, which will take place on Saturday.
The team’s performance will be closely watched as they continue to play without Self, who underwent a standard procedure earlier in the week.
