Transitional Improvements: Helping Homeless & Formerly Incarcerated Grocery Store Shooting; 1 Injured, 1 in Custody

I’m Share Cows Pedro Rivera and this is the 5 o’clock news. Thank you for joining us tonight.

Our top story is about a Jewish protester who died after a clash at dueling rallies over the Israel-Hamas war in 1000 Oaks. Authorities are urging calm and asking for help from the public to find out exactly what happened. Let’s go live to Sandra Mitchell in 1000 Oaks. This story isn’t just a local one, it’s also making national headlines. Yes, that’s right.

Many people are saying that this is the first death of an Israeli supporter since the deadly Hamas attack in Israel one month ago. We are currently at the location where this husband, father, and grandfather received the head injuries that eventually led to his death.

The investigation is ongoing, and sheriff’s deputies have searched the suspect’s home in Moore Park. While this is being treated as a homicide investigation, the suspect has not been arrested. The sheriff explains that conflicting reports about what happened at the intersection have made it difficult to make an arrest, which has angered some in the Jewish community. The suspect willingly stayed at the scene and cooperated with deputies when interviewed.

He claimed to have been involved in an altercation with Mr. Kessler and was one of the reporting parties who called 911 requesting medical attention for him.

The sheriff also mentioned that the investigation is complicated by differing witness reports about who started the fight. They need to determine the cause of Mr.

Kessler’s brain injury, which occurred when he fell backwards and hit his head on the ground. The events leading up to Mr. Kessler falling backward are still unclear. Jonathan Dos Walk, a friend of the victim who was present at the rally, said that Kessler was attacked by a man shouting into a megaphone. Dos Walk claims to have seen a punch and even saw the white megaphone flying through the air..
