KHON2 Weather Update: Justin Cruz’s Weather Report for March 16, 2023
According to Justin Cruz’s weather report, the islands will experience a pressure ridge that will maintain light southwesterly winds and limited showers into the weekend.
However, an upper-level trough will approach the state from the northwest on Sunday, increasing rain chances over Kauai.
Furthermore, a developing upper low will remain northwest of the state next week, enhancing shower chances across some parts of the state.
For today and tonight, the best chance for showers will be in the vicinity of Kauai, based on its proximity to deeper moisture along the nearly stationary frontal boundary.
From Monday through next week, models have become better at agreeing with surface and upper-level feature evolution through the week.
Current model solutions show the closed upper low, which developed northwest of the state on Sunday night, slowly drifting northward and remaining well northwest of the state.
Shower chances remain limited across the state, as surface and upper-level ridging maintain mainly dry and stable conditions.
