Some exciting news from Tampa General Hospital: Hillsboro County Deputy Manuel Santos, 31, has been discharged after being seriously injured along with Corporal Carlos Burito. They were both run down by a suspect in his car. Unfortunately, Burito is still in the hospital.
The incident was recorded on surveillance and body cameras, which were recently released by officials from the Hillsboro County Sheriff’s Office. The incident took place last Thursday in Brandon, Florida.
The deputies responded to a call from a woman who reported that her son was experiencing a mental health crisis. When the deputies arrived, the 28-year-old Ralph Boozy drove away but returned shortly after and intentionally crashed into the deputies. Both deputies suffered severe leg injuries. Boozy was eventually tased, arrested, and taken into custody.
Sheriff Chad Cronister revealed that Boozy had expressed his hatred for law enforcement and his desire to harm a deputy during a previous arrest in 2017. This marked his seventh arrest..
