Hunter Biden’s legal team has defended the payouts received by members of the Biden family from one of his business associates in China.
The revelations came as House Republicans continue to investigate the Biden family’s business dealings.
Bank records obtained by the committee show that Hunter’s late brother Beau Biden’s widow, Hallie, received at least two payments totaling $35,000 from Hunter’s business associate Rob Walker.
One of these payments came after a $3 million wire transfer from a Chinese energy company to Walker.
Hunter’s legal team defended the payments, saying that he has every right to pursue his own business endeavors and that the payments were for a joint venture with a legitimate energy company in China.
However, committee chair James Comer has raised questions about the nature of the services provided by the Biden family to receive such payments, suggesting that it may be a case of influence peddling.
The investigation continues.
