Houston Police Arrest Suspect in Downtown Burglaries
Houston police have arrested a 45-year-old man suspected of committing several burglaries in the downtown area.
The suspect, identified as Mr.
Original Jones, has been arrested 63 times in the state of Texas, 54 of which were in Harris County alone, according to authorities.
Detectives linked Jones to several cases in the downtown bar areas, including Reserve 101 at 1201 San Jacinto and The Rustic at 1836 Polk.
The incidents occurred between December and January, with reported losses of $16,400 for Reserve 101 and $5,300 for The Rustic.
Thanks to high-quality video footage and well-lit locations, authorities were able to identify Jones in four of the cases.
The Harris County DA’s office accepted two charges of burglary building against Jones, and warrants were filed on January 25th.
Jones was arrested on those warrants by the South Central crime suppression team on February 8th.
Jones has a long criminal history, with his earliest arrest dating back to 1997.
According to records, he has been convicted in 37 of his 63 arrests, with seven of those being for burglary building.
Houston police describe Jones as a habitual, repeat offender.
