In Westfield, the community honored veterans past and present with a parade and ceremony on Veterans Day. Many residents attended to pay their respects to those who have served in the US Military. The event began with a parade through Downtown and concluded with a ceremony at Westfield Middle School.

The ceremony included a proclamation, prayer, patriotic songs from the Westfield High School band, and remarks from veterans themselves. Colonel Steven Reynolds of the Massachusetts Air National Guard spoke about the history of the federal holiday, which originated from the Armistice during World War I.

He expressed sorrow that the war’s goal of lasting peace and stability has not been achieved. The event served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by veterans and the freedoms enjoyed by Americans..
