A car driven by a woman claiming to be homeless has crashed into six pedestrians in Washington Heights, Manhattan.

The incident occurred at Broadway and West 190th Street, where the 34-year-old woman stole a car and lost control of it, driving onto the sidewalk and hitting six people.

Eyewitnesses report that the woman then got out of the smoking car and fled the scene.

The victims, including two three-year-old girls, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at various hospitals.

The woman later returned to the scene and was taken into custody.

Authorities say she was not intoxicated at the time of the incident and is expected to be charged today.

The car crashed into the side of the R G Ortiz Funeral Home, causing damage to the building.
