Holyoke Community Honors Late President John F.
Kennedy
The Holyoke community in Massachusetts celebrated the life and career of President John F.
Kennedy ahead of their annual St.
Patrick’s Day parade.
Kennedy, the country’s first Catholic president, was of Irish heritage, and the local Irish community made an effort to honor his legacy.
The Holyoke St.
Patrick’s Parade Committee held a wreath-laying ceremony at the JFK Memorial, followed by the annual JFK Award Mass at St.
Jerome’s Church.
The JFK National Award, which honors an American of Irish descent who has distinguished themselves in their field, was presented to actor Lenny Jacobson, a Holyoke native.
The event was a great recognition to maintain the monument and honor President Kennedy’s memory every year.
