Just a few hours ago, Team Cherry’s marketing director, Leth, took to Twitter to provide an update on the highly anticipated game, Hollow Knight Silksong.
Unfortunately for eager fans, the release of Silksong has been delayed, prolonging the anticipation even further.
Leth stated that the original plan was to release Silksong in the first half of 2023.
However, the team is still actively developing the game and wants to allocate more time to ensure it reaches its full potential.
This means that the previously announced release window of June 12th is no longer valid.
This information has been confirmed by both Leth’s tweet and the official announcement from The Game Awards.
Speculation has arisen regarding whether Xbox exerted pressure on Team Cherry to commit to a release date.
Team Cherry had previously mentioned that Silksong operates on their own time frame, known as “Cherry-Time.” While some may perceive Xbox as an antagonist, it is unclear whether they truly coerced Team Cherry into an unwanted release window.
Although there were doubts among fans due to the lack of confirmation from William and Ari themselves regarding the June 12th release date, the delay has left the community feeling confused and somewhat disgruntled.
While it is unacceptable for fans to harass the developers, some believe that Team Cherry could have communicated more clearly throughout this process.
However, the most crucial aspect is the quality of the final product.
If Team Cherry deems that additional time is necessary to make Silksong truly exceptional, fans trust their judgment.
As Todd Howard, director of Bethesda Game Studios, once wisely said, “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.”
Despite the disappointment caused by the delay, fans eagerly await the eventual release of Hollow Knight Silksong.
The wait may be prolonged, but the hope is that the extra time and effort invested by Team Cherry will result in a truly remarkable and unforgettable gaming experience.
