A woman from Hertford County, Scarlett Cherry, has been speaking out about excessive noise levels coming from the nearby Perdue Agribusiness plant.
The noise is making it difficult for Cherry and her family to live and is impacting their farmland.
Cherry has been documenting the noise and trying to work with the company and local officials to come to a solution, including requesting sound barriers and quiet hours.
Perdue has stated that they are operating within the Hertford County noise ordinance and have made efforts to identify any possible loud noises and accommodate Cherry’s requests.
However, despite investigations and the adoption of the County ordinance by the town of Cofield, little has changed, and Cherry worries that the noise is too loud to build a legacy on her family’s farmland.
