In a shocking incident at a Planet Fitness gym in Corona on Tuesday, a man armed with a knife and a hatchet attacked another man who was covered in blood.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Ronald Chant, allegedly held the victim at knifepoint before assaulting him.
Gym goers, including John Keane and three other men, jumped in to help the victim and hold the suspect down until police arrived.
The assault reportedly began in the parking lot before moving inside the gym.
The victim suffered serious injuries but is now out of the hospital and expected to recover physically.
The suspect has been arrested and is facing attempted murder charges.
Witnesses and the victim are said to be rattled by the incident, which has highlighted the importance of being vigilant and aware of one’s surroundings at all times.
