A security guard at Mons Venus, a strip club in Tampa, Florida, prevented a potential tragedy early Sunday morning by fighting off a masked gunman who attempted to enter the club.

The gunman, identified as 44-year-old Michael Rudman, was wearing a mask and had the words “kill” and “dark one” on his arms.

The security guard, Manny Resto, can be seen in video footage taking the gun from Rudman and fighting to keep him out of the club.

Club owner Joe Redner credited his security team with potentially saving many lives, saying that if Rudman had gotten inside and shot his gun, he could have caused great harm.

Redner believes Rudman’s intent was to kill as many people as possible.

Rudman is being held in jail without bond and has a hearing scheduled for Friday.
