Georgetown University has officially introduced Ed Cooley as the new head coach of their men’s basketball team.
Cooley’s appointment comes just days after he resigned from his position as head coach of the PC Friars.
The announcement was made in front of a packed room at the Thompson Athletic Center in Washington D.C, with University President John de Goya and Hoya Athletic Director Lee Reed standing alongside him.
Cooley expressed his respect for the tradition and legacy of Georgetown basketball, particularly that of the late John Thompson who was one of his idols.
He also spoke about his relationship with Georgetown, which goes back to his high school days when he was allowed to watch their practice.
Fans and donors of Georgetown are hoping that Cooley can bring the team back to its former glory.
