Rockford-area drivers are in for an unpleasant surprise as gas prices in the region have spiked significantly.
According to GasBuddy, the local average for a gallon of gas has jumped to 3.62 cents, up nearly 14 cents from the previous week.
Despite a slight dip in oil prices, refinery maintenance and the cost of seasonal fuel blends have led to this surge in gas prices.
This means that consumers could expect to see further increases in the near future.
The cheapest station in Rockford currently charges 335 cents per gallon, while the most expensive station is at 379 cents per gallon.
