Escaped Virginia Inmate Captured in Mexico
Alder Marin Sotelo, the man who escaped from Piedmont Regional Jail four days ago, has been captured by the FBI in the Mexican state of Guererro.
Sotelo was facing a first-degree murder charge for allegedly killing a North Carolina deputy in August, and authorities had been searching for him since his escape.
The FBI reports that Sotelo was captured at around 1 p.m.
and was located pretty far south of Mexico.
He will now be extradited back to the United States to face justice.
The capture of Sotelo is a significant relief for the authorities, who had warned the public to be on the lookout for him and considered him to be dangerous.
As a result of the damage caused during Sotelo’s escape, the Piedmont Regional Jail will be closed until repairs can be made.
Several programs that were scheduled to take place at the jail will now happen at other locations.
Overall, the capture of Alder Marin Sotelo is a major development in this ongoing story, and authorities are relieved to have him back in custody.
