According to the American Kennel Club’s 2022 list of America’s most popular dog breeds, the French bulldog has become the top dog in the United States, overtaking the Labrador retriever, which held the spot for over 30 years.
The popularity of the French bulldog has been on a steady rise in recent decades, with its distinctive bat-like ears and wrinkly nose winning the hearts of dog lovers across the country.
Other breeds in the top five include golden retrievers, German Shepherds, and poodles.
While some may lament the lack of a “mutt rating” on the list, it’s clear that Americans have a new favorite breed in the French bulldog.
