Ole Miss has made a big splash in the college basketball coaching ranks, hiring former Texas coach Chris Beard.

The move comes just five weeks after Beard was fired from his post at Texas, following a domestic violence arrest.

The Rebels will introduce Beard as their new coach on Tuesday.

Beard is no stranger to success on the sidelines, having won conference coach of the year honors four times and being named AP’s National Coach of the Year in 2019.

However, his two-year stint at his alma mater Texas ended abruptly in January, when he was hit with felony domestic violence charges.

Those charges were ultimately dismissed last month.

Despite the controversy surrounding Beard’s departure from Texas, Ole Miss appears to be betting that he can bring his winning ways to Oxford.

Only time will tell if the gamble pays off.
