Former President Donald Trump says he believes he will be arrested on Tuesday as part of a hush money investigation by Manhattan’s district attorney.
He posted on his social media blog that he’ll be arrested on Tuesday and called for protests, claiming that illegal leaks from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office indicate that he will be arrested.
However, a spokesperson and a lawyer for Trump said that his post was based on media reports rather than any actual update from prosecutors.
A New York grand jury is currently weighing an indictment of the former president in a case examining hush money paid to women who alleged sexual encounters with him.
Trump has denied all wrongdoing.
A Trump campaign rally is scheduled to take place next Saturday in Waco, Texas.
Some lawmakers have criticized the potential indictment as politically motivated, while others have emphasized that no one is above the law, not even a former president.
Law enforcement officials are reportedly making security preparations for the possibility that Trump could be indicted and appear in a Manhattan court in the coming weeks.
