Former President Trump Calls for Protest, Expects Arrest

Former US President Donald Trump has called for his supporters to protest as he expects to be arrested on Tuesday, according to a social media post on Saturday.

Trump’s claim comes as a grand jury in New York investigates hush money payments made to women who accused him of sexual misconduct.

Trump repeated his false claim that the 2020 Presidential election was stolen and accused the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office of being corrupt and highly political.

The Manhattan DA’s office has not commented on the possibility of Trump’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials across the country are monitoring social media and preparing to prevent a repeat of the January 6th attack on the US Capitol by Trump supporters.

Former senior Homeland Security and law enforcement official Michael Balboni warns that law enforcement will need to coordinate efforts between NYPD, Secret Service, and the FBI to keep the situation under control.

It is theoretically possible for an indicted or imprisoned individual to still hold federal office, including the presidency.

However, this is a rare and unprecedented situation, according to Professor Alan Sanders from St.

Peter’s University.

Trump’s current attorney did not respond to requests for comment on whether there has been an indictment or if Trump would be allowed to surrender.
