Former NHL goaltender Devan Dubnyk weighs in on Jordan Binnington’s recent on-ice antics in the latest episode of The Jeff Marek Show.
Binnington, the St.
Louis Blues’ netminder, is facing a hearing from the Department of Player Safety after an incident with Ryan Hartman of the Minnesota Wild.
Dubnyk, who has had his own exchange of ideas with Binnington in the past, notes that Binnington has a tendency to become aggressive when he’s losing or getting scored on.
While Dubnyk appreciates the feistiness, he believes that Binnington’s behavior is often more like a tantrum than a genuine expression of frustration.
Binnington has a history of bumping goaltenders and getting into altercations with players, including Jason Zucker of the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier this year.
Despite his concerns about Binnington’s behavior, Dubnyk acknowledges that Binnington is a great goalie and a Stanley Cup winner.
The Department of Player Safety has yet to make a decision regarding Binnington’s recent incident.
