Former Edmonton Oilers forward and Stanley Cup champion Petr Klima has passed away at the age of 58, the team announced on Thursday.
Klima’s triple-overtime goal in the 1990 Stanley Cup Final is considered by many as one of the most iconic goals in Oilers’ franchise history.
Edmonton would go on to win the series for their fifth championship title, and it remains Klima’s lone Cup.
The Czech native played 13 seasons in the NHL, suiting up for the Oilers, Red Wings, Lightning, Kings, and Penguins.
The hockey community mourns the loss of a talented player and sends condolences to Klima’s family and friends during this difficult time.
