UPDATE ON ONGOING FIRE AT HISTORIC HANGAR IN ORANGE COUNTY: Firefighters are currently unable to battle the flames from inside the building due to concerns of collapse. We have reporter Carlos Herrera providing the latest news from the scene. This building is significant as it was named one of the historic landmarks of the 20th century by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, and we have a plan in place to extinguish the fire without putting firefighters at risk. We would like to express our gratitude to all the firefighters, law enforcement, and officials for their support throughout this incident. This is a Navy property, and we are in contact with the Navy and may turn the incident over to them.
Fire Chief Brian Fennessy will be giving an update on the situation. Helicopters have been dropping water on the fire, and the video footage shows the location of the fire. The complexity of the fire has led to the utilization of different techniques and resources.
The fire started at around 1:00 AM at the former Naval base in a tough stand..
