Fire crews from the Los Angeles Fire Department successfully rescued a horse in Sylmar on Sunday.

The horse had become trapped in a narrow wedge, requiring immediate assistance.

The incident took place around 4:30 p.m.

on May 7, 2023.

Due to the challenging location, the rescue team opted not to employ a helicopter for a hoist rescue.

Instead, they began the operation by digging around the animal.

Their goal was to carefully maneuver the horse onto its side to facilitate the rescue.

Following this, a horse rescue specialist from LA Animal Services took over, assisting in getting the horse back on its feet.

The efforts of the fire crews and the specialist allowed them to safely guide the horse out of the tight spot.

Fortunately, the horse did not sustain any injuries during the rescue operation.

This incident serves as another example of the dedication and expertise displayed by the Los Angeles Fire Department and LA Animal Services in safeguarding the well-being of animals in distress.
