At 6:00 a.m., we begin your Tuesday with breaking traffic news. Watch this video of a fiery semi crash that has caused the closure of all southbound lanes of I65 in Clark County, Indiana.
Good morning to everyone. The road has been closed for several hours now.
Let’s get an update from meteorologist Sam Gabrieli. The vehicle fire occurred just after midnight and sadly, there has been a fatality.
Please avoid this area if possible. I want to emphasize that the northbound lanes are still open.
However, due to the vehicle fire, all southbound lanes are blocked at exit four on the Lewis and Clark Parkway. We will continue to monitor the situation closely throughout the morning.
You can detour using exit four to access the southbound ramp. Now let’s take a closer look at our traffic tracker. Overall, the Kentucky side is showing green conditions, which is good news.
Thank you, Sam. Now let’s discuss the crash further. We initially received reports of a separate crash at around 12:20 a.m., where three right lanes were closed due to a pursuit that ended in a crash. Our cameras captured the aftermath of that incident.
Approximately 20 minutes later, INDOT informed us that all southbound lanes of I65 in Clark County were closed due to the fiery semi crash we have been reporting on. At this time, INDOT has not confirmed if the two incidents are connected. We are working to gather more information and will provide updates as they become available..
